The Ford Field move for the final Michigan State football regular season game against Penn State seems to be liked by the players.
Spartan Twitter was up in arms on Wednesday as Michigan State football announced that its final game of the regular season would be played not only on Black Friday (we knew this already) but also at Ford Field.
So fans that were hoping for a Saturday game at Spartan Stadium to close out the season were sorely disappointed.
I mean, who wouldn’t want to sit out in the cold in a half-empty stadium to watch Michigan State play? Well, it seems like the players and coaches are all for this move to Ford Field.
Darien Harris, a former player who is currently the director of player relations and program advancement, seems to love the move. He posted this tweet which was liked and retweeted by a number of Spartan players.
Guys like Tre Mosley, Dillon Tatum, and Darius Snow all liked this tweet. Even former players like Trae Waynes, Jayson Strayhorn, and Ben Patton seemed to love it.
Snow even tweeted out on his own: “Can’t wait.”
Sure, this is just a handful of players, but you can bet the majority of them feel the same way. There haven’t been any outspoken players saying negative things about the matchup.
Even Penn State transfer Ken Talley loves it.
Still worried about the move and how it’ll affect the team? Well, here’s more proof that players love this news from MSU’s Instagram post:
Obviously there are reasons to be upset about this decision to play at Ford Field. The season ticket holders probably wanted to catch one final game at Spartan Stadium against a (likely) ranked team on Senior Day. Plus, the students would experience their last home game as well. But with everyone likely being home for Thanksgiving weekend, the move to Detroit makes sense.
Players will be able to play in a potentially packed Ford Field atmosphere in a controlled environment with no snow and no freezing temperatures in front of thousands of alumni and families from the area who may not normally have a chance to go to a game.
The Michigan State football players like it and they have to actually play the game.
