Aidan Chiles suited up in the green and white for the first time on Tuesday as spring practice began. Take a look.
I know all of our minds are on Michigan State basketball as their NCAA tournament run begins Thursday, but it’s still an exciting time for the football team as well. Spring practice is officially underway and Wednesday is the first chance the media was able to watch the Spartans practice.
This might be the most excited I’ve ever been for spring practice with all the new faces on this year’s team. Thankfully some of our friends in the media shared some videos and pictures of some of the new Spartan players.
Aidan Chiles
The hype surrounding Aidan Chiles is still growing, especially after Jonathan Smith said he will likely be the starting QB in the fall. Now we get to actually see him work out in Spartan’s gear for the first time. This may just be a simple pass, but it’s extremely exciting to see nonetheless.
Here he is also seen going through warmups with the rest of the quarterbacks.
New threats on offense
Now that we’ve seen Chiles, why not show some of his weapons on offense. First up is transfer tight end Jack Velling who also transferred from Oregon State. Velling and Chiles are already familiar with each other and have even connected for a touchdown last year. So this combination could be deadly this season for the Spartans.
Another newcomer to the team is four-star wide receiver Nick Marsh who is the highest ranked recruit in Michigan State’s 2024 class and has a chance to make an impact on the field in year one.
Jonathan Smith
Lastly is the head coach himself Jonathan Smith. He has been in East Lansing for a few months now, but this is the first on-field coaching we get to see from him. Here is working with the quarterbacks (even though we can’t see them in the picture).
Spring ball is finally here, folks.
