Jeremy Fears won’t be returning this season, but it’s clear that he’s getting a head start on his recovery and he looks healthy.
Michigan State basketball just notched a crucial win at home against Northwestern 53-49. So many good things happened on Wednesday night including a senior night win, MSU likely locked itself in the NCAA Tournament field and had an awesome celebration after the game. More good came from Wednesday night and it involved a player who has been out since December: Jeremy Fears.

Jeremy Fears has been someone that’s been on everyone’s minds this season. Not just because we wish he was able to play, but because we hope he is able to make a full recovery after being shot in the leg. That seems to be the case as Fears was not just warming up with the team before the Northwestern game, but he is starting to look like his pre-injury self.
This was amazing to see. After Fears’ scary incident, there was no guarantee he would play basketball at the level he was at ever again. That, however, doesn’t look to be a concern anymore seeing how well he is moving in this video.
Tom Izzo has already confirmed Fears will not play this year, and that is probably the right choice. There is no good reason to rush him back after the injury he suffered as that just puts him at risk for more complications.
I’m just excited to see that he appears to be doing extremely well. Fears has always seemed to be in good spirits, and now his physical health seems to be matching that. Could he provide a lot of benefit to the team if he was playing? Absolutely. But as I said, none of that really matters after everything he’s been through.
Now we can all look forward to next year when we’ll finally get to see him on the court again.
