FOX college football ranked the top 10 transfers since 2000 and former Michigan State star Kenneth Walker III came in at No. 7.
Over the years, there have been some truly elite transfers. Even before the installation of the transfer portal, players have bounced around and had major impacts on their new programs.
Michigan State has been a recipient of one of the best transfers in the country over the past couple of decades in Kenneth Walker III from Wake Forest. He transferred to Michigan State ahead of the 2021 season and he ended up having a Heisman-caliber season. Unfortunately, he didn’t get an invite to New York despite winning the Doak Walker Award.
Still, he was the most impactful transfer in the country in 2021 and he’s still earning some recognition for what he did at Michigan State.
In fact, FOX college football ranked its top 10 transfers since 2000 and Walker came in at No. 7.
Here’s the full list:
Walker was the only running back to make the list and the highest-ranked of four Big Ten players. He was slotted just ahead of Justin Fields, Russell Wilson, and JJ Watt. That’s quite the list of players to be listed ahead of.
And the rest of the list isn’t too shabby, either. Joe Burrow, Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, Caleb Williams, Cam Newton, and Jalen Hurts are some of the best quarterbacks in college football history. And most of those guys are starring in the NFL or college still. Oh, and most have been coached by Lincoln Riley. Quite the endorsement for the USC head coach.
What Walker did at Michigan State was nothing short of electric. He rushed for over 1,600 yards and was a healthy performance against Ohio State away from getting an invite to New York for the Heisman Ceremony. Heck, he probably should’ve gotten an invite regardless. Maybe he was a healthy OSU game away from winning the coveted award.
Michigan State fans won’t soon forget Kenneth Walker III. And apparently neither will the average college football fan.
