Michigan State Football Offers Imposing Indiana OL

Published

on

Nolan Gerou, Spartan Shadows

On Monday, Michigan State football sent out their next offer out to the 2027 class, and it turned some heads. The Spartans offered RJ Clem, an offensive lineman from Logansport HS (Ind.).

More About RJ Clem

Clem is a lineman with length, with the tackle standing at 6-foot-6, 265-pounds. As it stands, Clem will need to have a year in the college weight program to be ready for Big Ten play, but his talent is apparent.

Currently, Clem does not have a ranking, but the Spartans offered as his second Power Four offer. However, by the time Monday turned to Tuesday, Clem found himself with two more Power Four offers joining the Spartans’ scholarship offer.

In addition to football, Clem plays basketball and runs track for Logansport. His wingspan is 84 inches, per his X bio.

Logansport High School went 8-4 last season, with Clem helping pave the way for the Berries to have nearly 3,300 yards rushing and 38 rushing touchdowns.

Michigan State Football’s Competition for Clem

In order to land a commitment from Clem, the Spartans will need to appeal to Clem in multiple ways. Alongside the football field talent, with Power Four schools Wake Forest, Iowa State, and Kansas State all sending out offers, Clem is drawing academic interest.

As it stands, Clem is set to visit Yale on June 19, and also holds multiple other Ivy League offers, including one from Harvard.

2027 Class Recap

If Clem were to commit, he joins a 2027 class with two offensive line commits, with Michiganders Jack Carlson and Grant Adloff each comprising of the class. The Spartans also have verbal commitments from Ohio-born quarterback Eli Stumpf and fellow Ohio native Savior Owens at running back.

In that scenario, as well, Clem would become the first player to commit to MSU out of Indiana high school football since EDGE James Schott in the class of 2022, or five years ago.
