Just three days after beating Rutgers rather comfortably at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, Michigan State basketball will take the floor once again for a rematch with Minnesota. The Spartans just saw the Gophers a month ago in Minneapolis and they beat them by 18 and Minnesota fell to 0-6 in the Big Ten recently, sitting squarely in last place.
But something must have clicked over the past three games.
Minnesota has won three straight, beating the likes of Oregon, Michigan, and Iowa. This is a solid streak and it shows that the Gophers aren’t the pushovers that we all thought a month ago. This team is not going to just roll over and let Michigan State basketball walk all over them again.
Tuesday night’s game should be a treat.
Here’s what our writers believe will happen on Tuesday night at the Breslin Center.
Connor Muldowney: I think this game is much closer than expected with Minnesota playing its best basketball of the season, beating Oregon and Michigan over the past two weeks. Michigan State has been playing tighter games, too. This is a recipe for one of those “never feel good” wins that has us on the edge of our seats for 40 minutes. Michigan State 77, Minnesota 71
Chris Norman: Minnesota is playing well and I think may give a tough run for a bit but the MSU depth will be too much. Michigan State 74, Minnesota 69
Emmett Matasovsky: Michigan State 78, Minnesota 68
Daily MSU: Michigan State 81, Minnesota 75
Maxwell Klitzke: Michigan State 84, Minnesota 71
Zack Theis: Michigan State 77, Minnesota 65
Brendon Pricco: Michigan State 75, Minnesota 62
Joey Shaver: Michigan State 81, Minnesota 68
As you can see, all of our writers are predicting a Michigan State basketball win, but no one is really picking them to cover the 13.5-point spread. That should tell you how well Minnesota has been playing lately. This one could be tight.
