Michigan State basketball: Frankie Fidler’s commitment date/time announced

Top Michigan State basketball transfer target Frankie Fidler is reportedly announcing his commitment on Monday morning.

One of the top wing transfers in the portal recently put Michigan State basketball in his top four and he’s even taking an official visit this weekend.

The weekend visit will be Frankie Fidler’s last before making a decision and a commitment date/time has officially been revealed. According to Gary Sharp, the long-time play-by-play voice of the Omaha Mavericks, revealed that Fidler would be announcing his commitment on Monday at 8 a.m. CT on 1620 The Zone – Omaha.

The commitment date makes sense as he’ll have checked out all of his top four officially at that point. Maybe he already knows where he’s going before this weekend visit to East Lansing or maybe he’s hoping the Spartans knock it out of the park. Either way, it’s great that Michigan State and Tom Izzo get the final visit for the Omaha star.

Fidler had a heck of a junior season with Omaha, finishing with 20.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 45 percent from the field, 36 percent from deep, and 85 percent from the line. He was one of the nation’s top mid-major players and he’s a top-40 transfer currently on the market, according to 247Sports.

The Bellevue, Neb., native is 6-foot-7 and 205 pounds and he’d be able to play the three for Michigan State basketball and give the Spartans some size on the wing. That would also allow Jaden Akins to slide over to the two and Xavier Booker to the four. In a small-ball lineup, Fidler could even play some power forward with his size and Booker could play the five.

Izzo likes his game enough to pursue him heavily and get him to campus, but let’s see if he can do enough in this final visit to sway the Omaha star to East Lansing.
