Michigan State basketball signee Jase Richardson receives rankings bump

Michigan State basketball signee Jase Richardson received a rankings bump in the updated 247Sports recruiting rankings.

Michigan State basketball has been hot on the recruiting trail in recent years. They signed one of the best classes in the country in 2023 and currently have the No. 13 class in 2024. The Spartans 2024 class consists of four-star guards Jase Richardson and Kur Teng and three-star center Jesse McCulloch.

Recruiting site 247Sports just released an update to their 2024 player rankings, and one Spartan signee saw his ranking rise.

Jase Richardson moves up in 247Sports rankings

Jase Richardson is a four-star guard from Miami, Fla. He has been the Spartans highest-ranked commit in the 2024 class and that is still true as of Tuesday. He saw his rating go up from 93 to 95. This may not seem like much of an increase, but every amount helps as he climbs the rankings. This also brought Jase up from No. 34 in his class to No. 31. Again, this may not look significant, but moving up three spots is a lot considering not many players are ranked above him.

Richardson is also inching a lot closer to earning that coveted fifth star as well. The lowest ranking for a five-star that 247Sports gives out is a 98. So Jase still has some work to do there. The lowest five-star however is No. 16 in this class, so that is still quite the jump for Jase to make.

With little time left for the 2024 class, I highly doubt Richardson will make it to that fifth star. But does that even matter at this point? We know he’s a super talented player and will be a major contributor the second he gets to East Lansing. Earning a fifth star won’t change any of that.

So regardless of how the rankings finish, Michigan State is getting a great player, and one who I am personally very excited for.
