Tom Izzo gave an update on a Michigan State basketball injury on Thursday, stating that Tyson Walker is dealing with a sore groin.
Michigan State basketball fans have to give a lot of thanks to Tyson Walker this season. The Spartans sit at 13-8 overall and 5-5 in the Big Ten, but without him, it could be even worse than that.
Tyson has been the go-to guy for this team and has been the scoring leader all season as well. He statistically has taken a small step back scoring the ball recently, but he has still hit double figures in every game this season.
However, it’s been very apparent that Tyson hasn’t been 100 percent recently. Especially in MSU’s 81-62 win over Michigan, you could clearly see him struggling to move around and grabbing his groin at times.
Earlier on Thursday in a press conference, Tom Izzo addressed these potential injury concerns with the media.
Tyson Walker injury update
According to Kyle Austin with MLive, Izzo shared that Tyson has been dealing with a groin injury recently. This is a major concern for all MSU fans because who knows what this team would be without him. Thankfully though, this injury seems minor.
Austin went on to report that Izzo doesn’t expect Tyson to miss any time with this injury. Not only will he not miss any games, but it sounds like Walker won’t even see a reduction in his playing time either.
This is obviously the best case scenario after seeing Walker struggle physically during Tuesday’s game. As I mentioned, I think this team would take a significant step back without Walker in the lineup. Thankfully we don’t have to worry about that right now as Walker won’t miss any time.
I just hope he’s able to get back to 100 percent, because the Spartans undoubtedly needs him to be at their best.
