A bit of a surprising move.

Former Michigan State football lineman Ethan Boyd has committed to a new school already, landing with Colorado.

After flirting with the idea of leaving football altogether, former Michigan State football lineman Ethan Boyd has already found a new home.

The former Spartan entered the transfer portal on Tuesday along with three other players and there was talk that he might be giving up football. But that rumor was shut down on Thursday afternoon when he committed to Deion Sanders and Colorado.

I’m pretty shocked by this development because Colorado has gotten a lot of negative attention lately, but Deion must have sold him on playing time because that’s the only reason I can think of for this to make sense. Boyd doesn’t feel like a culture fit at Colorado, but sometimes it’s tough to say no to someone like Sanders who brings with him a ton of national attention. If Boyd’s goal is to make it to the NFL, this was a smart move because there will be plenty of eyes on him.

However, after this past week with a former player talking about how Deion forced him to transfer and broke his confidence followed by Sanders trashing an FCS player’s 2023 stats, it’s hard to imagine there are a lot of players willing to join that culture.

Plus, Shedeur Sanders trashed his former teammate who transferred despite wanting to stay and compete by calling him “mid at best” on Twitter.

Boyd seems like a good person and he’s a solid offensive lineman so he’ll just have to keep his head down and work in Boulder. The second something goes wrong, though, it feels like Deion and some of his players will turn on you.

Derrick Harmon, too, is considering Colorado as one of his finalists so the two might be teammates once again.
