One of the best offensive tackles in the 2024 class just scheduled an official to check out Michigan State football in June.

Four-star offensive tackle Nathan Roy has just announced that he has scheduled an official visit with Michigan State football. The visit will begin on June 9 which will likely turn into a massive recruiting weekend for the staff as June is the most popular month for upcoming high school seniors to visit their top schools.

Roy is ranked in the top 200 according to the 247Sports Composite and is also listed as the 15th-best tackle in the country. Hailing from Mukwonago, Wisc., Roy is listed at 6 foot-5 and 275 pounds.

This will be a massive visit for Mel Tucker and Chris Kapilovic as MSU has yet to gain a commitment from an offensive tackle in the 2024 class. Offensive tackle is one of the most important positions for any football team, and Nathan has all the makings to be the next great Spartan tackle.

Roy has an impressive offer list and holds offers from many other major programs including Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, USC, UCLA, Miami, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. This will be the first visit Nathan will make to East Lansing so it will be crucial for Tucker and Kapilovic to make a great first impression. Roy has taken recent visits to Minnesota, USC, and UCLA and already has two other official visits set with the Bruins and Gophers.

Just based on the current official visits Roy has set up alone, I like MSU’s chances to be able to compete against and beat out both the Bruins and Gophers for his commitment.

MSUs 2024 class is off to a solid start, consisting of four total recruits. Two four-star corners are committed and two three-star interior offensive lineman in Andrew Dennis and Logan Bennett are also committed to Michigan State. With the Spartans having the commitments of two interior lineman already, their focus for the rest of this offensive line class will likely be placed on the tackle position, and Roy would be an impressive start to that group.

Kapilovic has been one of the more consistent recruiters in the Tucker era. The 2023 class featured elite offensive tackle Stanton Ramil as well as four-star Cole Dellinger and one of the top JUCO prospects in Keyshawn Blackstock. Coach Kap is a well respected line coach and has greatly improved the Spartans’ unit coming into year four of his tenure. I expect the offensive line to not only be much improved this year, but be one of the best position groups on this team.

No expert predictions have been made for Roy yet, but On3 currently has Michigan State football leading in his recruitment and gives us a 35 percent chance of landing his commitment.

Roy is one of the best offensive linemen in the 2024 class and would be a massive addition to the program. Look for Michigan State to continue to prioritize him as well as a few other tackles as they try to round out the offensive line class.
