Michigan State football landed its 11th commitment in the 2025 class on Tuesday in the form of three-star cornerback Aydan West.
The Michigan State football coaches received more good news Tuesday night when 2025 three-star corner Aydan West announced his commitment to the Spartans. West becomes the Spartans’ 11th commit for the class of 2025. It is also their fourth commitment to pledge their services to coach Smith in the past 15 days.
West comes in as the 90th-ranked cornerback in the country per the 247Sports Composite. He stands 6-foot-0 and weighs about 185 pounds. The Gaithersburg, Md., product had received 21 total offers from other schools and MSU. There was a decent amount of chatter that Aydan would end up at Virginia prior to his MSU official visit last weekend, however, a lot of that chatter came prior his offer in early June.
The three-star will join a rebuilding, albeit talented, defensive back room. Early indications prove that he could potentially play himself into some snaps early on in his Spartan career, however that isn’t necessarily guaranteed. One thing Jonathan Smith and the MSU defensive staff have prioritized so far is bringing in as many talented players as possible to fill that room out. There will surely be a lot of competition for spots at that position moving forward. West has the frame and talent to be a key part of that competition.
On his tape, Aydan shows some natural corner skills such as a decent ability to break on the ball and high-point the ball as well. He is really quick and has some speed. He shows an ability to shed some blockers and make plays against the run, too. Tackling seems to come easy for him. He may need to refine his technique a little bit in some aspects but I think he could be really effective after working with our defensive staff.
Overall this is a solid pick up as the Spartan staff continues to make waves in recruiting. They don’t appear to be slowing down any time either. Keep it here with Spartan Shadows for all your recruiting updates.
Welcome to East Lansing, Aydan. Go Green.
