Michigan State football lands All-Pac-12 IOL Tanner Miller

Michigan State football has landed All-Pac-12 lineman Tanner Miller who helped lead one of the nation’s best lines at Oregon State.

The hire of Jonathan Smith looks smarter with each passing day. Alan Haller seems to have made the right call for Smith to be the next head coach of Michigan State football as he’s already working to flip the roster.

When Mel Tucker took over in 2020, he was forced to do something similar. Mark Dantonio didn’t exactly leave the roster in a good spot with a few underwhelming recruiting classes in a row. But Tucker came in, utilized the portal, and recruited at a decent level. Smith is now doing the same thing and it’s going to pay dividends right away.

On Sunday, Smith landed a commitment from Tanner Miller, an All-Pac-12 interior offensive lineman from Oregon State.

This is just a massive pickup for the Spartans, landing a guy who started 40 games in Corvallis over five years and was named to one of the final All-Pac-12 teams ever. He’s going to have an immediate impact on this offensive line.

Jim Michalczik has had a great first month on the job, landing Rustin Young in the 2024 class and convincing guys like Geno VanDeMark, Ethan Boyd, and Brandon Baldwin to return to East Lansing from the transfer portal. He’s building a really good offensive line in East Lansing which is something that fans have been dreaming of for years. We were promised an improved line for three years but never saw one. Michalczik is poised to change that and return the Spartans to trench prominence.

Miller is going to be a guy who could start at right guard or center next season and he brings the needed experience and production in the middle of that line. He’ll be a strong addition and Michigan State will likely have one of the nation’s most improved lines in 2024.
