Michigan State football is trending for five more recruits in the 2024 class according to On3. Who are they?

Michigan State Football could use some good recruiting news. Players transferring and decommitting from the program have led to a brutal month for Spartan fans.

However, that all could be changing soon as On3 has Michigan State trending for five more recruits (they had MSU trending for five others earlier this week).

Nick Marsh, 4-star WR

This is a name that most Spartan fans likely recognize. Nick Marsh originally committed to Michigan State last summer. However, that commitment did not hold as he decommitted from the program March 7. Usually that means our chances are over, but that is not the case here. Marsh has still been in constant contact with the Spartan coaches and even took a visit to East Lansing in March.

Marsh is the No. 99 player in the class and No. 15 receiver. He has the size and athleticism to dominate at the college level, especially in 50/50 ball scenarios. The four-star is someone Michigan State needs to land.

He has multiple official visits scheduled including Penn State (June 2), Kansas (June 9) and Auburn (June 16). Michigan State will get the last visit which begins June 23. Marsh has a commitment date set for July 7, so Michigan State getting the last visit before his commitment is huge.

Mercer Luniewski, 3-star OT

Mercer Lunieski is another big-bodied offensive tackle that appears to be trending to Michigan State. Offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic loves recruiting massive offensive linemen, and Mercer fits the bill at 6-foot-7 and 300 pounds. He is the No. 876 player in the class and No. 74 player at his position.

On3 has Michigan State with a slight lead over Kentucky in his recruitment. However, 247Sports has Michigan State as the only “warm” school on his profile. This shows that Michigan State is in a favorable spot heading into his June 23 official visit. This is also the only visit he currently has scheduled, yet another good sign for Michigan State.

Charlton Luniewski, 3-star IOL

No your eyes aren’t deceiving you, Charlton Luniewski is the twin brother to previously mentioned Mercer. Charlton is ranked No. 1,273 in the country and No. 103 at his position. He also shares his brother’s size, listed at 6-foot-5 and 280 pounds.

His recruitment appears identical to his twin brother. On3 has Michigan State as a slight favorite over Kentucky and 247Sports has Michigan State as the only “warm” school. Could we see the twin brothers commit to Michigan State on their June 23 visit? I personally think there’s a good chance that ends up happening.

Miles O’Neill, 3-star QB

Miles O’Neill is one of the more underrated kids in the 2024 class. On3 is the only recruiting site to rank him, and they have him as a three-star, just barely missing out on four-star status. None of the other recruiting sites have ranked him yet, but that should change soon.

O’Neill has a growing offer sheet including Texas A&M, Penn State, Virginia, and Maryland. On3 has Michigan State firmly in the lead in his recruitment, but I think it’s actually a lot closer.

Miles recently visited Michigan State on May 23. He has also taken recent visits to Texas A&M May 21 and Penn State May 25. He also has an official visit to Virginia on June 2.

One thing in Michigan State’s favor, however, is that we were the first big school to offer him. He did have Ivy League offers before Michigan State, but the Spartans offer was the first from a Power Five school. That first, significant offer sometimes plays a big role in recruitments, and I could see that being a factor in Michigan State’s favor for O’Neill.

Samuel Madu, 3-star CB

Last on the list is Samuel Madu. Similarly to O’Neill, Madu is another severely underrated recruit. Once again, On3 is the only recruiting site to have him ranked and he is also a high three-star on their site. He holds other offers from Penn State, Minnesota, Purdue, and Missouri. These offers alone show that he deserves to be ranked on all recruiting sites.

On3 has Michigan State firmly in the lead in this recruitment as well, with Penn State far behind in second. Madu will be visiting Michigan State on June 16. He is also taking visits to Minnesota June 9 and Purdue June 23. This is shaping out to be a Big Ten battle for Madu, but I love Michigan State’s chances in this recruitment.
