These quotes are intriguing.

Michigan State football extended an offer to four-star linebacker Kamar Mothudi and it’s one he wanted for a “long, long time.”

Mel Tucker and Michigan State football are trying to get back on track after a rough weekend that saw Payton Thorne and Keon Coleman enter the transfer portal.

The day after two of his starters hit the portal, Tucker offered one of the best linebackers in the 2024 class, four-star Kamar Mothudi.

And what Mothudi had to say about his Michigan State offer should make fans feel (a little) better.

It’s refreshing to see one of the top linebackers in the 2024 recruiting class calling Mothudi, “This is one I had actually really wanted for a long, long time.”

Also, he called Michigan State football a powerhouse program.

Sure, he may be a little off with the powerhouse sentiment after the 5-7 season, but if Tucker can turn things around and wing 8-9 games, it would be hard to argue the trajectory. If Michigan State has a bounce-back season in 2023, it won’t be tough to land guys like Mothudi.

Mothudi is one of the best recruits from the West Coast, hailing from Valley Village, Calif., listed as the No. 150 overall recruit and 12th-best linebackers, according to 247Sports. He currently owns just over a dozen offers and the early favorites to land him are Oregon, Oregon State, Utah, and Washington. He has official visits planned to all of those programs. As you can see, a lot of Pac-12 teams are vying for his services.

If Michigan State can get an official from Mothudi, that would be pretty big as it seems like he has been monitoring the Spartans for a long time. It’s not often that you hear recruits speak so highly of an offer and admit that it’s been one he’s been waiting for.

Recruiting would see an uptick again if Tucker proves that 2022 was an anomaly.
