Michigan State football has offered one of the best offensive tackles in the 2025 recruiting class in Douglas Utu.
It’s no secret that offensive tackles are one of the most important positions on any football team. It’s nearly impossible to have a successful football team without a quality offensive line, and the tackle position is arguably the most important.
Michigan State football is addressing this position in a big way after offering one of the best tackles in the country.
Meet four-star offensive tackle Douglas Utu
Douglas Utu is a four-star offensive tackle from Las Vegas. He stands at 6-foot-5 and 270 pounds which is the perfect size for a tackle and 247Sports, and all other recruiting sites for that matter, are very high on Utu. The 247Sports Composite has Utu as the No. 59 player in his class and the No. 8 player at his position. Douglas is also the No. 2 player in the state of Nevada as well. You might be asking who the No. 1 player in that state is. Well don’t worry, Jonathan Smith and his staff are already on top of that as well.
MSU also recently offered four-star offensive lineman Seuseu Alofaituli who is the No. 1 player in the state of Nevada. Why is this significant? Both Douglas and Seuseu play for the same school in Las Vegas at Bishop Gorman. This means that these two potentially could be a package deal and want to play with each other at college, too.
If that’s the case, MSU getting in on them early could pay off in the long run.
Recruiting competition
A lot of big-name programs are also recruiting Utu as well. He holds other offers already from Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Oregon, Ole Miss, Ohio State, and Oklahoma. Most of these schools have also offered his teammate Seuseu, so they all seem to have the same idea of wanting both as a package deal.
Douglas does not have a timeline for a decision nor are there any predictions yet in his recruitment. Based on the other schools alone, this will be a tough one to win.
