Jonathan Smith added another commit to his 2024 Michigan State football recruiting class in Mikeshun Beeler.

Michigan State football and Jonathan Smith stay hot on the recruiting trail as they land yet another commitment in the 2024 class. The Spartans needed some help and depth on their defensive line going into next season, and that’s exactly what they accomplished with this commitment on Monday.

Who is Mikeshun Beeler?

Mikeshun Beeler is a three-star defensive tackle in the 2024 class. He is 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds from Chicago, Ill. During his senior season, he tallied 45 tackles with 18 tackles for loss. Beeler also is three-time all-city selection and was an all-state selection as a senior.

Beeler isn’t the highest ranked recruit ever as the 247Sports composite rankings have him as the No. 1,142 ranked player in the country. He also is the No. 119 defensive tackle in the country and the No. 27 player in Illinois. However, even with the lower ranking, he still has plenty of offers from big schools. MSU beat out the likes of Oregon, Indiana, Colorado, and Georgia Tech to win this recruitment.

On Jan. 30, Beeler received four crystal ball predictions to commit to Michigan State. Three of them came from Michigan State insiders and one came from a national recruiting analyst. Four predictions, with one being from a national guy, was a very telling sign that good news was on the way, and that came true on Monday.

MSU’s 2024 recruiting class

The commitment from Beeler could very well be the last for Michigan State in its 2024 class. This commitment will bring MSU’s 2024 class ranking up to No. 43 in the country and No. 14 in the Big Ten, according to 247Sports. Definitely not where the Spartans want to be, but not terrible if we’re being honest.

Jonathan Smith and his staff had almost no time to put this recruiting class together. And Mel Tucker also didn’t help with how he left the program. But Smith has proven to be a strong recruiter and I’m sure the 2025 class will be much stronger. One other important thing to note is that these rankings do not include transfers., and we all know how many great transfers Michigan State got this offseason.

Michigan State football is on the rise, and this commitment this late in the class just proves that even further.
