If you’re a fan of Michigan State football receivers coach Courtney Hawkins, you’re ecstatic about what happened this past weekend.

If you currently have stock in Michigan State football receivers coach Courtney Hawkins, you might soon be getting offers to buy your shares.

The fifth-year receivers coach for Michigan State has produced some solid NFL talent in his short time in East Lansing such as Jalen Nailor, Jayden Reed, and Keon Coleman, but he’s also been responsible for some of the success of current college receivers.

If you’re a Hawkins truther, you were validated this past weekend across both college football and the NFL.

Hawkins’ current and former receivers went nuclear.

Let’s start with the most obvious star of the week and that was Nick Marsh. It’s clear that he’s going to be the next great Spartan wideout as he caught eight passes for 194 yards and a touchdown against Maryland.

This was the best freshman performance from a Spartan receiver since 2020 (we’ll get to that receiver shortly).

Jaron Glover (six catches for 84 yards and a touchdown) and Montorie Foster Jr. (six catches for 53 yards and a touchdown) also had great weeks as Hawkins products.

But let’s go outside of the Michigan State bubble to some other college wideouts who played under Hawkins.

The first that comes to mind is Christian Fitzpatrick and it’s because he’s becoming a star at Marshall. While he never quite caught on with Michigan State after transferring in, he was also rarely healthy. He had a huge game with Marshall against Virginia Tech this past weekend and had arguably the catch of the season so far.

Fitzpatrick finished the game with four catches for 73 yards and a touchdown.

The next former Michigan State receiver who is still at the collegiate level is Ricky White. He was a preseason All-American candidate with UNLV and he had a strong performance in a Week 2 win, catching five passes for 111 yards and three touchdowns. He scored a touchdown 60 percent of the time he touched the ball. Yeah, he’s a freak.

But the success wasn’t just limited to the collegiate level. Three former Michigan State wideouts in the NFL also saw some success this past weekend, starting with Jayden Reed.

The Packers’ wideout had one of the best games of his young career to open the 2024 season, catching four passes for 138 yards and a touchdown and running for another 33-yard score in a losing effort against the Eagles in Brazil.

As if Reed’s performance wasn’t enough, Jalen Nailor recorded his second career touchdown reception in a win over the Giants.

Reed and Nailor’s 2021 teammate, Keon Coleman, also had a solid performance in the NFL’s opening week, catching four passes for 51 yards. Some might claim that Coleman isn’t a Spartan because he transferred, but he still credits Hawkins for everything he knows and his success to this day.

So that pretty much covers it. Michigan State football receivers, past and present, had a heck of a weekend and Hawkins’ stock is rapidly rising.
