Michigan State football has officially revealed its uniforms for the season opener on Friday night against CMU.

It’s that time of the year again: uniform reveal time.

During the 2021 Michigan State football season, uniform reveals were a big part of every fan’s week and the program is hoping that it brings the excitement back again.

On Wednesday night, the official MSU football Twitter (X) account revealed what the Spartans will suit up in on Friday night. It may not be a fan favorite, but it’s a traditional look for the opener.

It looks like we’re getting the new green helmets with the Spartan logo and Greek key down the middle as well as the new-look green jersey. Pair that with the white pants and you have the look for Friday night against Central Michigan.

Again, this probably isn’t the flashy look that fans were hoping for (many probably wanted the all-black look), but this just feels right for the opener against Central. It seems like Michigan State wears this combo for most home openers. It wore something similar against Western Michigan last season, just switch the green helmet out for the white helmet.

I like the look. It’s not flashy because it doesn’t need to be. It’s Central Michigan. It’s business. Go in and take care of business against a team that you should beat and then you’ll get to wear the cool stuff.

Mel Tucker is going to have his guys ready to play on Friday night and he even said that the Spartans aren’t good enough right now to take anyone lightly. He’s not wrong. Go in, beat Central, move on to the next. That business-like attitude is something a lot of us can get behind after a lackluster 5-7 season in 2022.

But hopefully the next jersey reveal (after Richmond) is more exciting.
