Love to see this confidence.

Tunmise Adeleye was peppered with ‘go greens’ from Michigan State football fans at the airport on Thursday. And then he made a promise.

On Thursday afternoon, new Michigan State football defensive lineman Tunmise Adeleye tweeted that he was at the O’Hare Airport in Chicago and was hearing ‘go green’ left and right.

This shocked no one because Chicago is Big Ten country and a ton of Michigan State alums relocate to the Windy City out of college. Plus, if you go anywhere and wear Michigan State gear, you’re likely to hear “go green” at least once.

Adeleye found out just how strong and extensive the Michigan State fanbase is.

And then he made a promise to all of them.

Adeleye promised that the team will be “going hard” for Spartan fans this year. He now becomes the second player to make a confident promise in the past week, following Tyrell Henry who vowed to show out with Keon Coleman gone.

You have to love that type of confidence.

Michigan State is coming off a 5-7 season and fans have been plagued by disappointment for months. But seeing potential breakout performers like Adeleye and Henry promising that 2023 will be different is a refreshing sight. Anyone can just say stuff like this, however, and fans will be hoping to see it in action when the season kicks off on Labor Day weekend.

Adeleye has a good chance to live up to this promise. He was the No. 39 overall recruit in the 2021 class and he played in just two games with Texas A&M after redshirting in 2021. Tunmise had six total tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss in that limited action. He has shown he can be a beast.

If the newfound confidence comes into play this season for Michigan State football, I like the Spartans’ chances to surprise people.
