Michigan State football could have a couple of commitments on the horizon with two targets announcing decision dates.
Michigan State football is off to a hot start this offseason. The program finally seems to have some momentum after hiring Jonathan Smith and getting a commitment from the No. 1 transfer quarterback in the country, Aidan Chiles.
Now it sounds like the good news may continue with two more commitments potentially on the way. Two recruits have set commitment dates for Dec. 20 and both appear to be leaning toward Michigan State: Brady Pretzlaff and Andrew Brinson.
Brady Pretzlaff, 3-star LB
Brady Pretzlaff is a three-star linebacker from Gaylord, Mich. He is a top-700 player in the 2024 class and is the No. 14 player in the state of Michigan. He was originally committed to Minnesota, but has recently stepped away from that pledge. Ever since, he has seemingly been Michigan State’s recruit to lose.
He took an official visit to East Lansing on Dec. 8, days after he decommitted from Minnesota. Another good sign for the Spartans is that we hired Joe Rossi as our defensive coordinator. Rossi was the defensive coordinator at Minnesota, meaning he played a big part in getting Brady to commit to the Gophers initially. Brady currently has six crystal ball predictions in favor of Michigan State. Most players do not get this many predictions, so the overwhelming support of him picking Michigan State is a great sign. All these signs likely point to good news for Spartan fans on Dec. 20.
Andrew Brinson, 3-star ATH
Andrew Brinson is another three-star 2024 recruit to keep an eye on. He will be visiting Michigan State beginning Dec. 15 before an official commitment on Dec. 20. An announcement date this soon after a visit usually means good news is on the way. Andrew is an elite athlete who has showcased the ability to play on both sides of the ball. His 247Sports profile lists him as a wide receiver, but he can also play cornerback at a high level as well.
Brinson was originally committed to Oregon State before decommitting from the Beavers at the end of November. Could this mean a potential reunion with head coach Jonathan Smith in East Lansing? Andrew currently has three crystal ball predictions in favor of Michigan State, so things are looking good for us Spartans.
Michigan State has had an excellent start to the offseason. With early signing day fast approaching, it was crucial for Smith to get to East Lansing and recruit hard. He has done that and more so far, and is proving why he was the right man for the job. Dec. 20 is only a few days away, but it looks like Spartan fans might get two more pieces of good news soon.
