Michigan State football will be wearing all-black uniforms vs. Indiana

With the Michigan game in the rear view mirror, Michigan State football will be turning its attention toward one of the top teams in the Big Ten right now: Indiana.

That’s right, the Indiana Hoosiers are undefeated and playing some of the best ball in the conference and the country, sitting at No. 13 in the AP Top 25 just days before the first College Football Playoff rankings come out.

Michigan State will get a 3:30 p.m. ET start against the Hoosiers and, like always, it revealed its uniform combination on Wednesday night.

The Spartans are going with the all-black look.

They’re obviously hoping for better luck in the crisp new alternates than what they experienced in the Michigan game last season when they debuted the all-black look. They were dominated from start to finish to the tune of 49-0 and it kind of ruined to new jerseys for fans because of the drubbing in that game in particular.

But this is a new era under a new staff’s lead and it feels like the direction of the program is positive. Jonathan Smith has done a good job through eight games and while a 4-4 record doesn’t really show that, the Spartans were in pretty much every contest and probably should be 6-2 right now — in my opinion, they handed Michigan and Boston College wins. The Spartans have a chance to make up for last week’s disappointing loss at Michigan with a ranked win over Indiana to begin November — no it won’t make fans feel better about losing to Michigan but it’ll help prove that the program is on the right track.

It’s time to get these all-black uniforms back into fans’ good graces and win a big game in them. This is one of the cleanest alternate uniform combinations in college football and it needs to live past this weekend. A loss may just declare them dead to the fanbase.
