Four-star wide receiver commit Nick Marsh is locked in with the new coaching staff after his second official visit.
Well the weekend has once again come and gone. Many Michigan State fans are now looking for reactions and information on how the first weekend of official visits under new coach Jonathan Smith went. As I previously reported for Spartan Shadows, there were 12 recruits on campus this past weekend. The group of prospects were highlighted by current MSU commits, current Oregon State commits, and some notable Beaver transfer portal players.
One of the most notable names on campus this past weekend was four-star Class of 2024 receiver Nick Marsh. He and his mom Yolanda (Mama Tron) were on campus for Marsh’s second official visit of the recruiting cycle. NCAA regulations permit a second official if a coaching change happens. Once Jonathan Smith was announced as the new head coach at MSU, Nick was eager to come back to East Lansing and discuss his fit and future plans related to MSU.
Once his visit ended this weekend, he sat down with 247Sports Spartans insider Corey Robinson to discuss his trip. You can read the full VIP article here:
Marsh seems to be locked in with the new staff and retaining Courtney Hawkins as receivers coach didn’t hurt.
Another huge part of Nick’s weekend was the ability to see his other class members and meet some potential new ones as well. He and his mother have been very vocal since he committed to MSU about trying to recruit other talent to MSU. Marsh was able to aid in that process by getting to know some of the other potentially interested players who are newly being recruited by MSU.
Nick Marsh got to meet his potential future quarterback and the fact that Smith is likely to land Aidan Chiles will help keep him a Spartan. He seems to have loved the hire of Smith for a variety of reasons, and so did his mother.
Building relationships on and off the field is a critical skill when being able to build team chemistry. That family atmosphere is what has made MSU special in the past. Early returns show that its something that Smith and his staff wants to help recreate here as well.
Overall several players that were on campus this past weekend had wonderful things to say about their time in East Lansing. A lot of the official visit photo shoot pictures are surfacing online as well. With the amount of good energy coming out of campus, look for some potential good news on the commitment front this weekend as well. With Early Signing Day less than 10 days away, the momentum in East Lansing is starting to skyrocket.
