Nick Samac has heartwarming phone call with Ravens’ front office (Video)

Michigan State football had one player selected in this year’s NFL draft and Nick Samac shared a heartwarming call with the Ravens.

Michigan State football was in serious danger of having no players selected in the NFL draft for the second time in four years after holding the longest streak in the modern era with a couple of other teams prior to 2021. And then Nick Samac heard his name called in the seventh round.

Although he had to wait longer than he probably expected, you could tell how appreciative Samac was of the selection.

The Baltimore Ravens actually shared the heartwarming phone call between Samac and the front office and head coach John Harbaugh on Twitter. And it didn’t disappoint.

Samac is just an all-around great person as well as a really good player and you could tell both sides were ecstatic about the selection. The Ravens made Samac’s dream come true and he was in tears as he was talking to the front office and Harbaugh. He had waited through six grueling rounds of the draft, fearing his name wouldn’t be called and the Ravens took a chance.

Seeing and hearing him cry tears of joy while talking to Harbaugh was a really cool moment. It’s something that he’ll never forget and although he’s just a seventh-rounder, the Ravens said that he’ll get a chance to snap the ball to Lamar Jackson at some point.

They believe he can be a solid piece in the middle of the offensive line.

Michigan State has fallen on some hard times in the NFL draft in recent years with few players getting selected each cycle, but hopefully Jonathan Smith can return the program to greatness. I fully expect him to develop more NFL talent than we’ve seen in the past few years.
