Aidan Chiles has had a rough start to the 2024 season but Clint Brewster believes he’s still a top-10 quarterback prospect.

Week 4 was not kind to Michigan State QB1 Aidan Chiles.

The talented, yet raw, passer finished just 17-for-35 with just over 240 yards through the air but he didn’t throw a single touchdown pass and instead had three interceptions. It was one of those forgettable performances for the Spartan quarterback.

But it’s fair. He’s a 19-year-old kid (just turned 19 last week) so these types of games are going to happen. He still added nearly 60 rushing yards and escaped sure sacks on numerous occasions. Chiles showed plenty of good with the bad on Saturday against Boston College.

Following the game-ending interception into double coverage in the end zone, fans were quick to take to social media to throw some blame on Chiles, stating that he’s just not doing his job. Sure, he’s young, but he shouldn’t be making these head-scratching throws into double and triple coverage. Some (crazy) fans even lobbied for Tommy Schuster to start for the Spartans.

But people need to take a step back and relax. He’s 19, uber-talented, and he just started his fourth college football game ever, on the road, in the Red Bandana Game, in a monsoon, at night, and still almost had the game-winning touchdown to Nate Carter.

Not everyone is down on Chiles, though.

There are plenty of smart fans who know that his growth is going to take time and there will be plenty of growing pains. That was to be expected this season. But prior to Saturday’s game, Clint Brewster of 247Sports and CBS Sports ranked the top 10 NFL draft quarterback prospects in the country, regardless of class. And Chiles came in at No. 10.

Did Saturday’s performance hurt this ranking? Probably not since it was just one game and Chiles is only going to get better. He’s still so raw that the potential there is intriguing.

But an expert believes that Chiles is one of the top-10 NFL draft prospects at quarterback in college football, just behind Shedeur Sanders. This list is filled with stars and it’s great to see that others believe that Chiles is going to be just fine.

The talent is there, Aidan Chiles just needs to relax and realize his potential.
