Michigan State football got some good news on Thursday afternoon as Justin Thind reported that Jaron Glover will play this week.
After weeks of bad news on the injury front, Michigan State football finally got some good news on Thursday.
Michigan State had been bitten hard by the injury bug through the first four weeks of the season, losing key players like Kristian Phillips, Dillon Tatum, Chance Rucker, Gavin Broscious, Nick Marsh, and Jaron Glover. It felt like there was no end in sight to the constant injuries.
There was talk after the Boston College loss from Jonathan Smith that Marsh and Glover weren’t considered season-ending injuries and that they would be expected back sooner rather than later.
Fortunately for at least one of the two talented pass-catchers, sooner means this weekend against Ohio State.
Pete Thamel reported that Glover would return and Justin Thind confirmed that report on Thursday afternoon which is a fairly big development for the offense which was down to just a handful of scholarship receivers. They were playing walk-ons at receiver against Boston College which is not ideal this early in the season with so much to play for.
Glover has six catches for 84 yards and a touchdown in just two games this season. He was held without a catch against FAU but broke out — along with Marsh — against Maryland in Week 2. He’ll be a sight for sore eyes and a nice safety valve for Aidan Chiles.
Now we’ll await word on Marsh who was a late scratch last weekend at Boston College. We didn’t find out until the day before that he was unlikely to play and then the word became official before kickoff.
With Chiles developing his connection with Jack Velling, the return of Glover is notable. And when Marsh comes back, this offense should be in good shape in terms of weapons.
