Barry Sanders has high praise for Michigan State (Video)

Barry Sanders is now a fan of Michigan State after seeing how much his son, Nick, has enjoyed being part of the culture.

There were a lot of exciting things that happened after Michigan State’s 53-49 win over Northwestern on Senior Night. The seniors got to kiss the Spartan logo, Tom Izzo addressed the crowd with a heartfelt message, and Steven Izzo got emotional in an interview with the Big Ten Network.

Legendary Detroit Lions player Barry Sanders was in attendance for this game, and he had many nice things to say about the program after the game.

Sanders shares his thoughts about MSU

Barry Sanders’ son, Nick Sanders, is a member of the Michigan State basketball team. Nick doesn’t see a lot of time, but that hasn’t stopped his father from noticing how special the program is. After the game on Wednesday, Barry shared some thoughts about the program in the interview below.

When asked about the experience for Nick, Barry said, “It’s actually been a great experience. He’s (Nick) learned a lot just being able to be in such a great basketball environment.”

No experience has been better for Nick than earlier this year in the Spartans game against Stony Brook. This is one of just eight games Nick has played in this year, but he hit a tough 3-pointer in this game for his only points of the season.

Barry was then asked if he’s an MSU fan now, and he said “Absolutely! Come on now!”

He also shared that he was never not a Spartan fan, but has become a huge fan since his son joined the team.

These are all really cool things to hear from Sanders. Not only is he a parent of a player, but he’s one of the best running backs of all time. So he knows a thing or two about what makes a good program and team. His high praise for Tom Izzo and the program speaks volumes to the great culture.

The Spartans’ final game of the season is Sunday at Indiana. They then will head to the Big Ten Tournament next week with the NCAA Tournament the following week. Opportunities for Nick to play will be limited, but hopefully Michigan State can get up big in a game so we can see him once more this year.
