On Tuesday, Michigan State football continued their blitz through the recruiting trail, with the Spartans sending out another offer as they try to grow their 2027 recruiting class, the first full class under head coach Pat Fitzgerald. The Spartans took a stop in North Carolina, where they offered massive 6-foot-7 defensive tackle Amir Moore.
What to Know on Amire Moore
Moore hails from Harrells Christian Academy, and weighs in at 265 pounds to go along with his 6-foot-7 frame. He has a lot of size, and that has been a recurring theme during Michigan State football’s recruiting process. The Spartans want a team that fits the size expectation for Big Ten contender.
The lineman is rated no.1046 nationally, no. 114 among defensive linemen, and no. 34 in North Carolina. Among defensive linemen in the state, he is rated sixth-best.
The lineman has been productive during his last two seasons in high school, with 66 tackles, 17 for loss, 7.5 sacks, 9 quarterback hits, 3 forced fumbles, and 2 pass breakups since his sophomore campaign.
During the winter, Moore spends his time on the hardwood, where he averaged 10.7 points per game, 7.1 rebounds per game, and 1.2 blocks per game.
Who Else is Michigan State Football Competing With?
The Spartans are Moore’s 17 offer from a Division 1 program. The Spartans are his second Big Ten offer, with Nebraska offering Moore first. He also holds offers from Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, NC State, and Ole Miss, among others.
The Harrell native has locked in three official visits, with North Carolina (May 28), Florida (June 4), and NC State (June 12).
Intriguing Note About Moore’s Recruitment
The Spartans have two listed recruiters for the talented and productive North Carolina lineman. They have defensive line coach Winston DeLattiboudere III as primary recruiter, with is no surprise. However, offensive line coach Nick Tabacca is listed as his secondary recruiter.
This might be based on regional and coach familiarity, as Tabacca coached at Wake Forest most recently, but it is worth noting.
2027 Defensive Line is Full of Size
The Spartans have two commits from the defensive line front so far, and both are on the tall side of the recruiting class. Three-star EDGE verbal commit Jack Schuler is measured in at 6-foot-5, while four-star DL verbal commit Ohimai Ozolua is also 6-foot-5. With Moore towering over competition at 6-foot-7, this is something to watch as a trend for Michigan State football recruiting.
