On Thursday, Michigan State football continued recruiting across the nation, with the Spartans trying to find talent to cultivate with Pat Fitzgerald and Co. as they look to build back to their success. The Spartans and defensive back coach Hank Poteat found a guy that intrigued them, and sent an offer to Cordaro Shyne Parham, a no-star defensive back from Georgia.
What to Know About Shyne Parham
Parham is a 6-foot-1 defensive back from Jefferson HS (GA.), with a 75-inch wingspan. His X (formerly Twitter) bio states that the back runs a 22.30 in the 200m dash, along with a 6-foot-2 high jump and 41.3 inch vertical.
Those numbers indicate extreme athleticism, which is a defining characteristic that coach Poteat looks for in his corners. Parham’s numbers on the gridiron are something to look at, as well. During his junior campaign, Parham recorded 50 tackles (32 solo), with 8 pass breakups, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, and only two touchdowns allowed in 15 games.
The Spartans jumped in extremely early on Parham, as the defensive back only holds offers from Alabama State and Erskine College, two programs at the lower levels of football.
Poteat is willing to take time to develop players, as one well-built example of that is projected starting corner Tre Bell III. Bell was a athletic force at Lindenwood, initially being on both basketball and football. He became an impact player during his season with the Cyclones and followed Poteat to Michigan State football.
Parham currently does not have a 247Sports or On3 page, so there is no consensus ranking to list him at among overall players, in-state players, or among his position group.
Parham Could Follow Footprints of Current Early Enrollee
The Georgia native could be following the shoe steps of KJ Deriso, an early enrollee with Michigan State football. Deriso was a player that the last staff had identified early in the cycle, beating out programs such as in-state Georgia Tech for Deriso’s services. Deriso has already impressed in camp, with two pass breakups being featured on Michigan State football’s social media pages.
There has yet to be anything officially announced for an official visit with Michigan State football, but that could be coming shortly.
