Jayden Reed has been great for the Green Bay Packers this season and he even set a franchise record for rookie receivers.
Former Michigan State wide receiver Jayden Reed has been unreal for the Green Bay Packers this season. Sunday night’s 33-10 win against the Minnesota Vikings was no different. Reed finished the game with six catches for 89 yards and two touchdowns.
Here is Reed’s first touchdown of the game on Sunday.
Jayden sets Green Bay Packers franchise record
During the Packers’ win on Sunday night, Jayden Reed made history. He passed Sterling Sharpe for the most receptions by a rookie in Packers history.
This isn’t the first time Reed made history this season either.
Last week, Reed did something for only the third time in NFL history. He became the third rookie in NFL history to record six receiving touchdowns, 500 receiving yards, 100 rushing yards, multiple rushing touchdowns, and multiple 50-yard receptions. Add this record with the Packers rookie reception record and it’s safe to say he has had a remarkable season.
Season in review
So far this season, Reed has racked up 60 catches for 681 yards and eight touchdowns. He also has been dangerous on the ground as well. Reed has run the ball 11 times for 119 yards and two more touchdowns. I never imagined he would be this much of a threat both as a receiver and runner in the NFL, especially this early in his career.
The Packers win against the Vikings on Sunday was by far his best outing of the season. It is also his second multi-score game of his NFL career as well. Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons, Reed posted a four-catch, 37-yard, and two-touchdown outing.
As a Detroit Lions fan, I am by no means a Packers fan, but Jayden has me cheering for them as the season is coming to an end. Green Bay is sitting at 8-8 as they head into their massive season finale against the Chicago Bears. The Packers currently hold the seventh and final playoff spot in the NFC. However, Seattle and New Orleans are also 8-8, but a win next week guarantees the Packers will make the playoffs.
Regardless of how the season ends, Jayden has had one of the best rookie seasons in NFL history and I can’t wait to see where his career goes.
