Keon Coleman may have spent his final season at Florida State, but he told the Bills that he “learned ball” at Michigan State.
It’s been a week since Keon Coleman heard his name called in the 2024 NFL Draft and he’s already becoming a league-wide sensation.
Besides being the Bills’ first pick in the draft (No. 33 overall), Coleman happens to have one of the best personalities of anyone draft. He might just be the funniest player in the league already and he hasn’t played a snap.
Videos have surfaced everywhere of Coleman just saying things that have already caused Bills fans to fall in love with him from asking for snacks at his introductory press conference to telling a story about how he wanted a pool at his new place but Buffalo has ice rinks instead.
On Thursday, Dov Klieman posted a video of Keon’s NFL Combine interview with the Bills and it was gold. He had some great one-liners like calling himself “Tiger WishHeCould” when speaking about his golf game but he also broke down his game.
During the interview, the Bills asked where he learned ball and he gave Michigan State a shoutout.
Saying he learned ball at Michigan State is just another reason Courtney Hawkins is one of the best at what he does. He helped mold Coleman into one of the best receivers in college football and while it hurt to see him leave, it made sense. Coleman saw Michigan State’s offense regressing (no fault of Hawkins) and decided to go somewhere he could elevate his draft stock. Picking Florida State was a smart decision as he was featured as the top target for Jordan Travis and the 13-1 Seminoles.
If he hadn’t gone to Florida State, he would’ve suffered in the worst Michigan State offense we’ve seen in probably decades.
But Keon Coleman still calls Michigan State “home” and has come back multiple times over the past couple of months to show love. He’s a Spartan and only transferred because he had to. But he credits his knowledge of football and his elite game to Michigan State and Hawkins.
