On Sunday, Michigan State football saw another swing in the positive direction for the recruiting front. One day after four-star defensive lineman Nehemiah Ombati listed the Spartans in his top three, St. Ignatius (Ohio) receiver Trey Haddad listed the Spartans amongst his top five.

What to Know About Trey Haddad

Haddad has yet to have a ranking, per 247Sports. The Cleveland native holds five Power Four offers currently, including offers from West Virginia and Texas A&M. On3 lists Haddad as the no. 1401 prospect in the nation, no. 182 at receiver, and no. 52 in the state.

Haddad is the fourth best receiver in the state, behind Ohio State commit Jamier Brown of Big Walnut High School (teammates with Spartan QB commit Eli Stumpf), Louisville commit Chuck Alexander Jr. (Withrow HS), and fellow MSU offeree Deanthony Crittenden (Glennville HS).

Haddad stands at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, and led the St. Ignatius Wildcats in receptions (35), receiving yards (548), and tied for most receiving touchdowns (5) last season. Defensively, he added four tackles and a pass breakup. As a return man, he had 3 punt returns for 17 yards and a kick return for 13 yards. Haddad also runs track for the Wildcats.

Breaking Down The 2027 Class

The Spartans hold seven total commitments, ranked no. 32 in the country on 247Sports for their recruiting class. The Spartans have four offensive commits as of May 3. They are offensive linemen Jack Carlson of Brighton HS (Mich.) and Grant Adloff of East Grand Rapids HS (Mich.), aforementioned quarterback Eli Stumpf of Big Walnut HS (Ohio), and running back Savior Owens of Washington HS (Ohio).

If Haddad was to join that list, he is the third offensive commit from Ohio and fourth overall, with projected EDGE Jack Schuler of Bishop Watterson HS being the sole defensive commit from Ohio.

Haddad would also become the second receiver from Ohio to join the Spartans, with Braylon Collier (Perkins HS in Sandusky) being the lone Buckeye State representative in Courtney Hawkins’ receiver room.

Who is Michigan State Football Competing With?

The Spartans join Kansas, West Virginia, Miami (Ohio), and Buffalo as the finalists in Haddad’s recruiting process.

Haddad Adds Name to List of Prospects With MSU as a Finalist

Haddad becomes the latest player to put his name in the list of players considering Michigan State, with two fellow Ohio players having the Spartans in their finalists.
