Max Christie continues to shine in the NBA Summer League, throwing down the best dunk we’ve seen since the event started.

Another night. Another Max Christie highlight. It’s now common to see headlines praising Christie for his NBA Summer League stardom which I can admit I didn’t see coming.

Through his first two Summer League games, Christie was the Lakers’ best player. He led the team in scoring in the first game with 17 points on over 50 percent shooting. And then he scored 25 in the second game, posting four rebounds and two assists on over 50 percent shooting again.

On Friday, he continued his torrid stretch, posting 22 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. Oh, and he once again shot over 50 percent from the floor and 3-for-5 from deep.

And according to one Lakers Twitter account, he was receiving “MVP” chants during the game.

Laker fans have seemingly fallen in love with Christie this offseason and they’re clamoring for more playing time next season. It looks like he’s earning it by expanding his game.

Don’t believe me? Have you ever seen him throw down a dunk like this:

I know the answer is no. He was only in East Lansing for one season and showed some athleticism here and there, but he never put anyone on a poster like this. Max darn near ended someone’s NBA career with this dunk. He read the defense perfectly, blew by a help-side defender, and changed hands to dunk over the last line of defense in the paint. What a perfectly executed play.

The more I watch Max Christie in Summer League play, the more I’m convinced that he’s ready to make that second-year leap. I once doubted him as an NBA prospect after an up-and-down freshman season at MSU, but I’m now fully buying in. He might just be built for the league after all.

Christie has been dominating and now he can say he also threw down the best dunk of the Summer League.
