Michigan State basketball just landed Kur Teng in its 2024 class and it will be on commit watch once again in two weeks.

Michigan State basketball was on commit watch as soon as four-star shooting guard Kur Teng announced that he would be making a decision on Monday between the Spartans, Rutgers, and Providence. He chose Michigan State.

Now, the Spartans’ 2024 class is on commit watch yet again with another top target scheduling a commitment date.

Four-star center Jesse McCulloch is set to announce his commitment on April 20 and he’s choosing between Michigan State, Alabama, Virginia Tech, and Xavier.

I think you have to like Michigan State’s chances here.

Not only do I like the Spartans’ chances with McCulloch because the Crystal Ball on 247Sports favors Michigan State 100 percent, but also because it lines up with the Teng commitment. I’m not saying that they’re friends or anything, but usually kids feel the pressure to commit and have a spot in a class when someone commits to their top school.

Michigan State will likely have 3-4 open spots so if McCulloch is the second to commit to the Spartans in 2024, he won’t have to scramble.

Plus, McCulloch fits the Michigan State play style as a 6-foot-9 power forward/center type. He’s not a crazy athlete, but he can stretch the floor and score from everywhere. Tom Izzo loves bigs who can stretch the floor and make shots from distance, and McCulloch can do just that.

On top of that, it would give Michigan State another post presence and an opportunity to land a true center in Flory Bidunga who is still near the top of Izzo’s board.

McCulloch may project as a power forward at the collegiate level, but the Cleveland, Ohio, native is ranked the 15th-best center in the class and No. 86 overall on 247Sports.

In two weeks, the 2024 Michigan State basketball class could grow to two.
