Michigan State basketball makes top 9 for 5-star Jalen Haralson

Michigan State basketball made the cut for one of the top prospects in the 2025 class on Friday as Jalen Haralson narrowed his list.

While Michigan State basketball continues to battle in the NCAA Tournament, Tom Izzo is getting closer to landing his latest five-star recruit.

Per 24/7 High School Hoops on Twitter, heralded La Lumiere wing Jalen Haralson has cut his list of top schools to nine — and he included Michigan State.

The remainder of his list consists of Notre Dame, Auburn, Duke, Purdue, Kansas, Indiana, Missouri, and Gonzaga. As you can see, the competition is tremendously stiff — and rightfully so. Haralson stands at 6-foot-6 and weighs 210 pounds — he has prototypical size for a small forward, but would also be a great option as a tall guard. He plays with a high IQ and utilizes his size to drive to the rim as well as to grab plenty of rebounds. Haralson also brings plus athleticism to the table, and would generally just be a super handy and versatile guy to have around. He has everything you look for in a guard/forward, and his high ranking reflects that — he’s currently the No. 10 player in the nation per the 247Sports Composite.

If the Spartans can beat out the opposition for Haralson and secure his services, they should be thrilled. He’s going to make one program very happy.

Interestingly enough, La Lumiere is the same high school that current Spartan Jeremy Fears Jr. attended. The two did not get the opportunity to play together (Haralson only transferred in this past season), but Izzo’s established familiarity with the program is a big plus.

As Michigan State prepares to reshape its roster following the imminent departure of seniors like AJ Hoggard and Malik Hall, Izzo looks towards adding an extremely talented young player.

It’s going to be a tough race to land him, but if anyone can do it, Izzo can.
