Michigan State basketball is one of two schools in constant contact with four-star combo guard Alex Lloyd from Florida.
New names seem to be popping up on a daily basis when it comes to Michigan State basketball recruiting, especially as part of the 2025 class.
Tom Izzo has been reaching out to some of the biggest names in the country in the 2025 class. Guys like Koa Peat, Darius Acuff, Jalen Haralson, and Trey McKenney all hold offers from the Spartans and they sit atop Izzo’s recruiting board.
But more names seem to be added constantly and one that not many Spartan fans are familiar with just listed Michigan State as one of the two programs talking to him the most. Top-50 junior Alex Lloyd told Hitmen Hoops Scouting that the Spartans and FAU Owls are putting the most effort in with him.
2025 4⭐️ Alex Lloyd tells me that FAU and Michigan State are the schools talking to him the most.
What is he looking for in a school?
– A free style of play – Strong relationship with coaches

Lloyd wasn’t exactly on my radar before hearing this news but he’s an intriguing combo guard, standing 6-foot-4 and 162 pounds. He has a frame that could afford to add some muscle, but he finishes strong around the rim and has a really smooth jumper.
The nation’s No. 49 overall prospect and No. 8 combo guard has the look of a player who could excel under Izzo.
Izzo is constantly looking for players who run the floor well, finish strong around the rim, and can knock down shots from just about anywhere. Lloyd checks all of those boxes.
FAU is a school to keep an eye on as they’ve actually offered him. According to 247Sports, Michigan State has not yet offered. Actually, his list of scholarships is shockingly small for a top-50 prospect. He only holds seven offers from the likes of Florida State, Miami, St. John’s, FAU, FGCU, Dayton, and IUPUI. That’s not what you’d expect to see on the offer sheet for a player of his caliber.
Lloyd did say, however, that Duke is his dream school. That could hinder the Spartans’ chances here, especially if the Blue Devils decide to get involved.
Izzo is now targeting about 20 percent of the top-50 prospects in the 2025 class. You love to see it.
