Michigan State football has extended its first 2025 quarterback offer to three-star Leo Hannan. He could be a quick riser.
Jonathan Smith and the Michigan State football staff have been hard at work since arriving in East Lansing. They quickly put a 2024 recruiting class together and added many pieces from the transfer portal. They’ve even done an excellent job at keeping MSU players in East Lansing as well.
With the 2024 class all but wrapped up, the staff is now turning most of their attention to the 2025 class. On Thursday, MSU offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Brian Lindgren made their first offer to a 2025 gunslinger.
Three-star QB Leo Hannan
Quarterback Leo Hannan is the first quarterback offered by Michigan State in the class of 2025. He is a three-star from Anaheim, Calif., standing 6-foot-4 and weighing in at 200 pounds. Hannan is the No. 18 quarterback in the 2025 class and the No. 564 overall player, according to 247Sports. Leo also holds other offers from Colorado, Washington, Oregon State, Minnesota, and Arizona.
Kenny Jordan with On3 spoke with Hannan after the offer, and I love what Hannan had to say.
“I was getting ready for my 6:45 a.m. lift like I do every morning and then coach (Lindgren) offered me right before, so it’s going to be a great school day.”
I don’t know about you, but hearing the quarterback that just got offered by MSU was heading to his daily 6:45 a.m. lift excites me. That tells me he is a leader both on and off the field and takes football seriously. That is exactly what I want in a Michigan State quarterback.
Where does Hannan fit in the QB room?
When Smith and his staff got to Michigan State, recruiting quarterbacks was one of their top priorities. And that wasn’t even necessarily by choice. All of the Spartans’ quarterbacks from last season transferred, meaning the staff had to move fast to find a starter and add some depth.
The first move came by grabbing the No. 1 quarterback in the transfer portal, Aidan Chiles. In my opinion, he will be the starter next season, but he will have some competition. The next move for our staff was to recruit the 2024 high school class. That’s where they found two quarterback commits, Alessio Milivojevic and Ryland Jessee. These two next season will just be depth pieces next year as they develop for the future. Lastly was another transfer quarterback from North Dakota, Tommy Schuster who could be someone who secures that QB2 spot next year.
If Leo Hannan were to commit, he would undoubtedly be another depth piece when the 2025 season rolls around. Chiles will likely be starting his second season, giving Hannan time to develop. Once Chiles’ career is done in East Lansing, he would then have his chance to compete for the starting job.
I love this offer by Michigan State football and I think Hannan is someone who could explode onto the recruiting scene during his senior year. So getting in on him early is huge for the staff.
