After David Stone committed to Oklahoma on Saturday night, a 2024 Michigan State football commit posted a cryptic tweet.
To the surprise of not many people, five-star defensive lineman David Stone committed to Oklahoma on Saturday night during halftime of IMG Academy’s game on ESPN2. Stone was choosing between the Sooners, Miami, and Michigan State football. A lot of Spartan players had been pulling hard for the Stone to commit to East Lansing. While their efforts fell short, most seem determined to keep grinding on the recruiting trail.
One 2024 recruit appears to be taking the news harder than most.
Defensive back commit Justin Denson sent out two tweets post-decision that may not sit well with Spartan fans regarding his status.
Denson and Stone had developed a decent relationship during recruiting visits and overall. He clearly seems to be a little upset that Stone is not joining him in East Lansing. Would this be enough to cause Denson to decommit? Time will only tell but Spartan fans can’t feel great about seeing these tweets.
Let’s hope that Mel and the staff can circle back and reaffirm just why these recruits committed to them in the first place.
Justin is listed as a three-star cornerback and No. 634 overall on the 247Sports Composite. He committed to the Spartans back on July 4. He chose MSU over schools such as Florida, Oklahoma, and Alabama. Denson is playing his senior season of high school ball at La Salle Academy in Providence, R.I. He is Rhode Island’s highest-ranked prospect in 2024 according to 247Sports.
Michigan State football kicks off its season on Friday against Central Michigan. On the recruiting trail, they are awaiting announcements from two highly sought-after prospects in four-star offensive lineman DeAndre Carter and four-star running back Jason Brown. Four-star cornerback Jamari Howard also is still uncommitted though after decommitting from MSU, the Spartans are expected to be on the outside looking in for his recruitment.
