Michigan State football is getting a major visit from five-star defensive lineman David Stone who is “fired up” about it.

Over the weekend, five-star defensive lineman David Stone announced that he would be taking one final official visit to Michigan State football.

Stone had already checked out Florida, Miami, and Oklahoma, and the Spartans were promised his last official before he set his June trip schedule. And he delivered.

Now, he’ll be on campus with a handful of other top targets and three other top-100 recruits.

This visit by Stone is as big for him as it is for Michigan State — even more so for the Spartans. He has been atop the board of targets for Michigan State for over a year and Mel Tucker has to put in some serious work to make up some ground with Oklahoma.

Spartan fans are excited about this visit and, apparently, so is Stone.

The five-star defensive lineman from IMG Academy has always shown the Spartans a ton of love and hearing him say he’s “fired up” about this final official visit is pretty big.

While I still think Oklahoma is the clear favorite here, Tucker could make up some ground and at least get Stone thinking. The longer this recruitment goes, the better chance I think Michigan State has. The fact that he didn’t commit at Oklahoma last weekend was slightly surprising, but a good sign.

Still, there’s not a ton of time left in this recruitment and Michigan State needs to hit a home run this weekend in order to have a legit shot.

We can probably expect Tucker to be spending a lot of one-on-one time with Stone as well as fellow top 2024 target Nick Marsh this upcoming weekend. He will need to make both of these guys feel like they’re his No. 1s and show them that they’d flourish in East Lansing.

A big weekend is approaching.
