Michigan State football: Help could soon be on its way to the WR room

Help could soon be on its way to the Michigan State football receiver room. The Spartans offered a talented one on Monday.

Sometimes help isn’t as far away as it seems.

As Michigan State football continues to round out its final roster for this upcoming season, filling the vacancy left by Keon Coleman is one of the top priorities.

On May 1, the day after Coleman entered the portal, Michigan State didn’t waste any time sending an offer to in-state wide receiver Jahdae Walker. He has played the last two seasons at Division II GVSU. He’s considered one of the top DII prospects in the nation and has offers from some Power Five programs like Kentucky, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Colorado, Illinois, and Pitt.

Michigan State has the advantage of having him in its own backyard.

Walker has the one thing that you can’t teach in sports: size. The 6-foot-4 wideout has put together some impressive film in his time at Grand Valley. His stats aren’t eye-popping (30 rec, 625 yards, 6 touchdowns) but when you see the tape, you can see the potential.

It feels like this is one of those “elite potential” type of players that Power Five teams are starting to take notice of. His recruitment is blowing up as we speak.

Making the jump to the Big Ten is a considerable step from Division II, but with the guidance of Michigan State wide receivers coach, Courtney Hawkins, Walker would be in a position to contribute early and often.
