Michigan State football could be in danger of losing its top recruit in the 2024 class as Jamari Howard is taking officials.

Four-star cornerback and Michigan State football commit Jamari Howard announced on Wednesday that he will be taking an official visit to Florida beginning on June 2.

The extremely talented corner is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 75 player in the country and No. 8 cornerback in the class. Howard committed to the Spartans on Sept. 26 and has held firm to that commitment ever since. But is that commitment starting to waver?

It is never a good sign when one of your commits schedules a visit to another school. With Howard visiting the Florida Gators on June 2, that could be a sign towards him looking for other options outside of East Lansing.

However, Howard does have an official visit set up with Michigan State the week after his Florida trip, so Tucker will have a chance to real him back in and keep him committed to the Spartans.

Another school that keeps popping up in his recruitment is Florida State. Howard is from the state of Florida, so seeing the big-name Florida schools recruiting him hard makes me very nervous to hold onto his commitment.

Jamari is currently the top commit in the Spartans’ 2024 class that also consists of four-star corner Jaylen Thompson and three-star offensive lineman Andrew Dennis and Logan Bennett. Holding on to Howard’s commitment has to be one of the staffs top priorities as it is no secret that the defensive backs room has been one of the weakest positions for our team the last couple of years.

Howard has, however, locked in a June 9 official with Michigan State.

Buckle up, because this is going to be a wild recruitment to watch as the summer goes on and one that will likely go all the way up to signing day.
