On the eve of the spring game, former Michigan State football offensive guard Kevin Jarvis is getting another shot at the NFL. On Friday, April 16, the Buffalo Bills announced that they had signed offensive lineman Kevin Jarvis to a contract. This is Jarvis’s second shot in the NFL, as he signed with the Detroit Lions after going undrafted last year. He was waived/injured by the Lions when they needed to cut the roster down to 53 players for the start of the 2022 season.
Jarvis was one of the more versatile offensive linemen during the transition from Mark Dantonio to Mel Tucker, as he recorded 39 starts for the green and white, spanning five years and three separate offensive line positions, that being right guard and each tackle position.
For his final season, Jarvis earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors as he was a crucial piece that helped pave the way for the Spartans’ Peach Bowl victory. He started the first eight games of the season at right guard before sliding over to the tackle position after Jarrett Horst was lost for the final games of the 2021 season with an injury.
Additionally, as you all are well aware, this means Jarvis was part of the 2021 Spartan offensive line that paved the way for Kenneth Walker III’s award-winning season. The offensive line also received recognition alongside Walker, as they were semi-finalists for the Joe Moore Award, which goes to the top offensive line in the nation.
While the figures of the contract are not out as of this publishing, it was announced as a one-year deal for the former Spartan. Jarvis joins quite a few Big Ten alumni in the Bills’ offensive line room, joining Ike Boettger of Iowa, David Edwards of Wisconsin, and Connor McGovern and Ryan Bates of Penn State.
Jarvis currently figures to be a camp body, but who doesn’t love a good underdog story?
