Michigan State football has landed three-star in-state linebacker Charles White and he becomes the second 2025 domino to fall.
Just days after landing their first commitment in the 2025 class, Jonathan Smith and Michigan State football picked up a pledge from three-star linebacker Charles White from Orchard Lake, Mich.
According to Corey Robinson, this was a priority target for Smith and Co. and he landed the three-star in-state linebacker over the likes of Kansas and Boston College. He actually had official visits scheduled to those schools — and Michigan State — early this summer, but I’d be surprised if he still went through with them. This is yet another solid get for Michigan State.
It’s good to see Smith closing on some top in-state talent as White is ranked the No. 10 player from Michigan by 247Sports. He’s also the No. 605 player and 67th-best linebacker in the nation. Keeping top talent home and playing in East Lansing is what can get this program back to the top.
It’s been a heck of a week for Smith and Co. as it started relatively slowly with a number of transfers out of the program, but three-star quarterback Leo Hannan committed along with UMass transfer Kay’Ron Adams and Stephen F. Austin transfer Brandon Lane and Antonio Gates Jr. withdrew his name from the transfer portal on Friday night. Add this commitment of White to the mix and it’s been one of the better recruiting weeks in a while.
And Smith isn’t done yet. He’s working hard on that 2025 class obviously, but he’s also focusing on the transfer portal which is what you have to do these days if you want to speed up turnarounds and compete.
The Spartans are in on a number of transfers from the spring window and I’d be shocked if they don’t land more commitments in the near future. Michigan State football is picking up some steam, folks.
