Michigan State football added another immediate contributor from the transfer portal in the form of Georgia Tech’s D’Quan Douse.

Jonathan Smith isn’t wasting any time filling out the 2024 Michigan State football roster.

The new head football coach has been quite active and has already impressed Spartan fans with his ability to add players as well as retain Spartans that entered the transfer portal.

More help is on the way for Michigan State as a new commitment was announced today.

D’Quan Douse is transferring in from Georgia Tech. Listed at 6-foot-2, 278 pounds, Douse should add some depth on the front line for the Spartans. In his career with the Yellow Jackets, Douse totaled 69 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles. The hope for the Spartans will be that Douse is able to be a consistent part of the rotation up front on defense. Over the past few years the Spartans tried to improve the starting line but overall lacked depth. This would hurt the team throughout the season as injuries occurred.

Michigan State fans just had to endure watching their rival win a national championship. The two areas that made Michigan’s run possible were the offensive and defensive lines. As much as the sport of football evolves, it stays the same. The game is won or lost in the trenches.

Smith is far from done and has a lot more work to do but Spartan fans have to be encouraged by the number of quality players being added to next year’s roster.
