After missing out on a bowl game a year after losing Jonathan Smith as his head coach, Oregon State offensive lineman Luka Vincic decided to follow his former head coach to East Lansing. Michigan State football officially landed its second transfer commit of the day.
Vincic visited Michigan State this past weekend and he loved what he saw, stating he is 100% committed as of Sunday.
Our own Emmett Matasovsky had this to say about Vincic in his 30 portal targets confirmed for the Spartans article:
Vincic started multiple games at center this season, and the Spartans lose fellow Oregon State transfer Tanner Miller. Smith might burn Oregon State football one more time, and I am sure X will be a great place after that. Vincic has three seasons of eligibility left.
Vincic did see action at center as a starter this past season but didn’t start the entire year. He showed flashes of being a really strong interior offensive lineman and he will be the perfect replacement for Tanner Miller, a fellow former Beaver. Miller is graduating and that leaves a void at the center position which Vincic could fill along with Cole Dellinger who I still have high hopes for.
Smith is starting to heat up this offseason in the transfer portal. He didn’t have any commitments until Sunday and he missed out on a couple of top targets to Texas Tech this week. These two additions on Sunday (so far) are big-time and they should have fans excited.
Like I’ve said, even though Smith’s 2025 recruiting class isn’t going to blow anyone away, as long as he fares well in the portal, he’s going to have fans buying back in and he’s going to make up for his high school recruiting. He can still find success recruiting the portal which has arguably become more important these days.
So far on Sunday, Michigan State football has added Vincic and Omari Kelly.
