On Friday, Michigan State football continued scouting the top talent in the state of Michigan. The Spartans sent out an offer to two-way lineman Drew Aagesen, a top 25 prospect from the state of Michigan in the 2027 class.
What to Know About Drew Aagesen
Aagesen is a three-star defensive lineman, per the On3 rankings. 247Sports does not have a listing for the lineman at this point. However, on On3, Aagesen is rated no. 1393 overall, no. 136 among defensive linemen, and no. 24 in the state.
Aagesen is being recruited as an offensive lineman, as Nick Tabacca was the coach sending an offer to the Goodrich High School (Mich.) product.
Do not overlook the in-state product for his ranking outside the top 1350, as his offer sheet includes six Power Four schools, including Big Ten foe Wisconsin.
Aagesen was part of an offensive line for the Martians that had well over 2,000 yards rushing last season en route to a 12-0 start to the season before falling to Divine Child 10-7 in State Semifinals.
Goodrich is located only one hour from East Lansing, with the newest Spartan offensive line offer revealing he has cheered for MSU since day one.
Who is Michigan State Football Competing With?
The Spartans are competing for Aagesen’s service with Iowa State, Pittsburgh, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Those four schools have all set official visits with the lineman, and the Spartans likely have to displace one of those schools to have him join the summer spree of landing recruits.
Winning an in-state product as close as Aagesen would have the benefit of having him available to unofficially visit the campus on ensuing recruiting weekends to form ties with future teammates and secure commitments.
If Aagesen were to commit to Michigan State football, he would become the third in-state offensive lineman commit, joining Jack Carlson of Brighton and Grant Adloff from Grand Rapids.
Aagesen’s Offer Comes as Fellow OL Recruiting Target Commits Elsewhere
The Spartans pivoted quick with their offensive line plans, as the offer to Drew Aagesen came shortly after scheduled May 29 visitor David Tarawallie announced his commitment to Matt Campbell and Penn State.
This is not to say that the Goodrich native is a contingency plan, as he is likely to see a massive rise in rankings with his offer sheet. Remember, the staff just got to campus in December and had to go through spring ball as well.
