Michigan State football is projected to land one of the best recruits from the state of Michigan, three-star linebacker Charles White.

Michigan State football recruiting has been rather quiet over the past couple of months. Ever since signing day for the 2024 class, Jonathan Smith and the Spartans have been planning 2025 visits and prepping for a huge summer.

All we’ve heard on the trail have been scheduled visits and ‘top schools’ lists.

The middle of the offseason can sometimes be brutal on the trail, but Smith and the Spartans are hoping to change that this spring. They’re hosting several top targets for the Spring Showcase on April 20 and they’re hoping that kickstart the 2025 class.

One of the top targets in the 2025 class who has been on campus recently is three-star linebacker Charles White. He was visiting campus on Sunday and that apparently went well for the Spartans as two Michigan State insiders placed crystal balls for them to land him.

Corey Robinson and Justin Thind of 247Sports placed crystal balls in favor of the Spartans to land the nation’s No. 589 overall recruit and 65th-best linebacker, according to the composite. He’s also the 10th-best prospect from the state of Michigan, hailing from Orchard Lake.

White has over a dozen offers but didn’t have any crystal balls before his visit on Sunday and the other programs to be aware of in his recruitment are Boston College and Kansas. Smith is making him a priority and he’ll need to keep recruiting him as Lance Leipold is building something special in Lawrence and I have a feeling he won’t go away here.

The Spartans have yet to land a commitment in the 2025 class, but I expect that to change in the near future. I expect Smith and Michigan State football to heat up on the trail as official visit season approaches. White has an official scheduled for June 7, sandwiched between Boston College and Kansas trips.

It’s looking good for the green and white here.
