Despite committing to Michigan State football over the weekend, schools are still trying to land Kee’yon Stewart.

Kee’yon Stewart became the latest transfer player to commit to Michigan State football over the weekend, joining a solid crop of newcomers.

Stewart played for the national runner-up TCU Horned Frogs last season and had 14 total tackles and three pass breakups. His numbers don’t jump off the sheet, but he was a solid cornerback on a team that nearly won the Big Ten and took down Michigan in the national semifinal before facing Georgia in the title game.

There’s a good chance he’s a starting cornerback for the Spartans in 2023.

But that hasn’t stopped other programs from calling. In fact, he posted on his Instagram that schools have been reaching out since he committed to Michigan State.

This comes as no surprise as Mel Tucker has been known for identifying talent before it truly blows up. This happened with Audric Estime in the 2021 class, Kedrick Reescano in this past cycle, and the most recent is Keon Coleman. All of those guys seemed to fly under the radar during their recruitments and then schools realized just how good they were after they had serious interest in MSU.

Of course, Keon played two years at Michigan State, but he was a three-star receiver from Louisiana who was close to playing for Tulane.

Now it seems Stewart is the next to receive a ton of interest after Michigan State football came calling. Luckily for the Spartans, it seems as if he’s solid in his commitment and he’s planning on enrolling in classes.

Michigan State needs to keep identifying this talent early on so it can turn the program back in the right direction. It seems like we have a head coach that can do just that.
