Michigan State football will host Prairie View A&M on Saturday afternoon in what should be a lopsided affair.

Two weeks into the 2024 Michigan State football season, the Spartans have a 2-0 record and are 1-1 against the spread.

It’s been an interesting start to the Jonathan Smith era with a shaky performance in the opener against FAU followed by an impressive road win over Mike Locksley and Maryland. The Terrapins were expecting to be in the top half of the Big Ten standings this year, but Michigan State took care of business in College Park, 27-24.

With the first Big Ten win under Smith’s belt along with a 2-0 start, he has one final game to prepare for before getting into the meat of the schedule which kicks off with No. 24 Boston College next weekend.

Before we look too far ahead, let’s dive into the final score predictions from our Spartan Shadows staff for Saturday’s game against Prairie View A&M.

Connor Muldowney: Aidan Chiles has his first turnover-free game as a Spartan and Nate Carter rushes for over 100 yards as the Spartans roll and we see a ‘Touchdown’ Tommy Schuster touchdown pass in the second half. Michigan State wins big, but doesn’t quite cover the 40.5-point spread. I say Prairie View A&M 13, MSU 45.

Zack Theis: Prairie View A&M 3, Michigan State 42

Daily MSU: This game has blowout written all over it. The offense will move the ball at will and the defense will get stop after stop and even force a lot of turnovers. Expect to see a lot of backups on the field as well who will be able to dominate the game as well. Michigan State 45, Prairie View A&M 0.

Liam O’Malley: Prairie View A&M 7, Michigan State 52

Chris Norman: MSU is in control the whole game and uses it to iron things out on offense while keeping playbook vanilla. Prairie View A&M 7, Michigan State 38.

Anthony Garvert: 45-0 Michigan State

Emmett Matasovsky: MSU is 8-0 all time in FCS score, winning with an average score of 42-10. However, this Prarie View A&M team is worse than the average MSU opponent from lower levels. I think the Spartans could easily drop 70 on Saturday, but will run a very base offense and defense considering their five opponents after this week are all ranked or started the season ranked (Iowa). Michigan State 49, Prairie View A&M 3.

Owen Schuchaskie: Michigan State 59, Prairie View A&M 3

As you can see, the script has flipped from last week as all of our writers are picking a blowout win for Michigan State football. We’ll see if this comes to fruition.
