Michigan State football remained hot on the recruiting trail, landing three-star cornerback Syair Torrence.

The Michigan State football recruiting momentum continues with a commitment from Syair Torrence. This is the first commitment for new cornerbacks coach Jim Salgado.

Not only was this a huge commitment, this was a flip for the coaching staff as he was once committed to Syracuse. This flip was not easy according to some reports but with Salgado’s pursuit of Torrence, he was able to complete the flip and continue the success Michigan State has had recently.

The 5-foot-11 cornerback out of New York was one of the main recruits that the coaching staff really targeted. It started early on with Salgado and he was a priority pretty early on as he was offered again by the Spartans after just a month. Because he has been a main recruit thay the staff wanted to land, this is a good commitment for the Spartans. If Michigan State can continue to land their main recruits that they make a priority, they will land and continue to build a good class especially after a slow start.

Torrence is the third commit for the secondary in this Michigan State football recruiting class.

The coaching staff has really been actively recruiting secondary players as that has been one of the weak points of this defense since Mel Tucker has gotten to Michigan State.

While it shows on recruiting websites like 247Sports that Torrence is a wide receiver, he was being recruited to be in the secondary, mainly at corner. He is the second commitment in the past two days and it seems like Michigan State is not done landing commits.
